Solar Powered Ford Hybrid C-Max Solar Energi

C-Max Solar EnergiPlugin hybrids are starting to sell at never before seen levels. And these plugin hybrids help drivers avoid using gasoline and, in many cases, decrease their carbon footprint. The problem is that charging these hybrids requires plugging in and getting energy from whatever source your local energy company uses be it nuclear, coal, gas, or some portion of renewable energies. But now Ford is looking to solve that problem with a solar-powered Ford C-Max hybrid.

The concept vehicle has 1.5 square meters of photovoltaic solar panels on its roof. These solar panels don’t just help run climate controls and other electronics, they actually recharge the batteries when not being driven. Ford isn’t using yesterday’s old solar technology, they have utilized a system that is said to get 50% more energy per square meter than conventional solar cells. That means the C-Max Solar Energi can harness 8 kilowatts of energy in the course of a day.

The Ford C-Max Solar Energi will get a reported 621 miles of range and up to 21 miles of all electric driving. And don’t worry, the C-Max Solar Energi is still a plugin hybrid.
